>What do you do when you enjoy life?
I think it's more does ones existence contain enough pleasure to offset the pain. Some people have more or less greater thresholds but I think that's what it comes down to. Now whether you find an activity pleasurable or not is another thing itself. But I think as long as people have some sort of acceptable equilibrium going in the sum total of their daily experience they can more or less keep it together. But knowing that you are going to suffer pointlessly with no respite or way out that's usually when you see people deciding to end it all. Hope or a possibility of escaping from a pleasure deficit or pain abundance can keep people going beyond what you'd expect but at some point everyone has their limits.
To your point I don't think it's those activities themselves
>social media, television, brainrotting video games, etc
That contain some death like quality which people then overgeneralize into a desire for death. Rather I think those people usually have other things going on wherein the pain in their life can no longer be offset by distracting pleasures which for one reason or another have stopped working. Either because the problem became too big to ignore or they became numb to the pleasurable distraction.
I think that's one of the things that makes Schizoids so fascinating. They are kind of like people who have developed a learned helplessness so severe that they aren't even affected as much by pleasure or pain. They sort of drift through life like purposeless zombies. They get to stay alive sure but many neutral observers of their lives would deem them not worth living. I think a lot of normal people feel that way about incels too to some extent. Can you imagine telling the average normie that from here on they would never have sex or be in a relationship ever again? I think a lot of them would rather kill themselves than deal with that.
