The bleak good ending. You know what would be even grimmer? Imagine some carnivores find out where May and Roselia are and start feasting on their bodies. Being connected to the roots, their body mass gets regenerated over time, meaning there's more food for carnivores to come back to. Basically a Pokémon variation of the Greek myth about Prometheus.

>Well if we want to get that deep...
Rest assured, we can't go any deeper than the bottom of the ocean :D

>TWO TYPES
Like with the eggs, perhaps one double of types would be sufficient to point towards her carelessness.

>Bonus tragedy
Relations to other characters would most obviously play an important role in her self-reflection. Other important people would be her parents, Professor Birch or Archie who caused it all. When she eventually start hallucination, whose apparitions would she most likely see?
>The later disasters separating Roselia from Tropius also separate May from her love interest. And not only does Tropius/Roselia's egg die, May herself will never have children.
Really like this symbolism.

>Synthesis restores HP and is most effective in strong sunlight. Which is ironic because the bottom of the sea is just pitch black darkness
>Represents May's hopes and dreams now being impossible or something.
Nice connection.

>But since it's freezing cold at the bottom of the ocean, Walrein's Thick Fat/Ice Body abilities could be relevant somehow, especially since Ice Body heals HP.
Perhaps symbolizing her involuntary resilience in the deep dark cold. With flickers of hope temporarily restoring some of her will to survive.

>Whiscash or Absol
Perhaps too obvious symbolism with le edgy bad omen doggo. But I don't know, could work in the sense of Absol's existence on her team foreshadowing her impending doom. Like, it's hidden in plain sight, but ORAS May isn't that superstitious to be concerned having an Absol as a team member.
