you have two choices
>Standard
Its the default 60 card format designed for playing the game. Its fun but also competitive. You build decks around a said style of play and then play rounds usually.
This format is the intended way for beginners to learn the game. LGS stores usually encourage beginners and will loan you decks etc to learn.
>Commander
This format is different. 100 card decks, 1 copy of each card only except basic lands. This format is more your casual player format. Its often played with 3-4 players at a table. Decks are designed around a theme or a playstable of the commander card. The commander is a card on the field that is your main hero basically. This format is mainly designed for casual play. Buying a precon or preconstructed deck is usually how you learn with others.
Thats the jist of it.
I started with Commander and ill say, I recommend learning Standard first even if it is harder at first.
