If this were true, why would Phrolova pass the gem to Cristoforo so easily? Knowing the ending, this now reads like a lie to trick Rover into believing Phrolova is retrieving the gem for personal reasons - breaking away from The Order and the Fractsidus - when in fact she still wants Cristoforo's plans to bear fruit. Do not trust the Frog, we're still playing her game.
