>Well yeah part of the reason they got young guys in the past was because of a steady stream of video games.
yeah george lucas proved yet again he was a genius when he created lucas arts and started making in-house star wars video games almost every year. any time a new star wars video game out it was an immediate top 10 best seller and almost all of the lucas arts games are still beloved today. if i had to list my top 20 favorite video games of all time at least 1/4 of that list would just be star wars games. so it really is a tragedy how disney abandoned/shut down lucas arts and licensed the rights out to EA and phone game developers. just another example of disney killing the golden goose that was star wars.
>Even those are aimed at women now, see Star Wars: Outlaws.
honestly i would say that game - and disney nu wars whole girl-power shtick isnt even aimed at women. women dont like that shit. women rejected it too. princess leia and padme from george's star wars are much more beloved by women and girls - even today. no one gives/ever gave a shit about Rey Palpatine/Rey Skywalker. no one gives a shita bout any of these disney wars female characters. women, girls. men, boys. no one gives a SHIT about Rey. more women fanboyed Kylo Ren - the cutout emo/angsty school shooter character than they did for Rey. THINK about that.
if you want to say disney's female centered star wars was 'aimed' at anyone, it was aimed not at attracting women into the franchise, but instead, 'aimed' at men, but as an aimed rejection, not invitation. the whole design philosophy underlying disney star wars seems more about rejecting the existing, male audience than it was ever/will ever be about inviting in the female audience.
and that is why star wars is failing and no one cares about it anymore. because it wasnt made FOR anyone. it was made AGAINST a specific demographic(young males)
