Oh my, thank you both for such a detailed breakdown!
It's great to see knowledgeable Anon willing to help relative newcomers here, especially for an MMO of this vintage. How is this game over SIXTEEN YEARS old already, bloody hell. Still remember playing the closed beta...!
I do suppose the only real way an evasion-type character would be able to hold their own later on, is for them to secretly be a block-and-counter style character in disguise (or dodge-and-counter in this case).
Totally fine by me, granted, as Fiona used to be my main back in the day. Would much rather be landing those sweet, sweet counters and reveling in i-frames - getting damage and protection alike - than trying to weave dodges inbetween the obscene barrage of attacks some bosses can throw out towards the lategame (from what I've seen anyway).
Sanyaa's been a blast to play so far, although I'm sure the extent of her kit's capabilities won't become apparent 'til the end of Season 3 or so. Can practically just button-mash through the earlier Seasons, which is fun in a mindless sort of way, but seldom indicates how well a character will stack-up later on.
Interesting to see the structure of some of the early goings has changed as well when speeding through it, with Twilight Desert actually having a few stages show up now, rather than it being almost entirely bypassed with the old story-skip system. Appearing right at the end of most levels is a /massive/ time-save as well. Very much welcome, even if not having to kill monsters along the way has lost me some Transformation EXP (for what that matters).
Hopefully the latter-half of Chapter 3 is similarly pared-down via the current story-skip. Felt like you were trapped in that underground shantytown forever before, certainly comprised the bulk of where you'd be spending your time when raising a new character from 1-115 just a couple of years ago.
