very late update:
Made a dark grey wash.
It stains the surface too much for my liking.
Not like how an armypainter wash with speedpaint medium "stains" the miniature's surface if at all: https://youtu.be/b6cbOrVnD3Y?t=368

Speedpaint medium has a soapy smell to it. But flow aid also had a soapy look to it. Should I add more flow aid to achieve desired effect, /grog/?

DIY is part of the grog experience, right?
