India vows to keep buying Russian oil despite Trump's threats
Indian officials have said they will keep buying oil from Russia despite threats from Donald Trump.
The New York Times is reporting that there has been no change in India's policy, with one official saying there had not been "any direction to oil companies" to cut back imports from Russia.
Trump said that, as part of his latest round of tariffs, he would impose an unspecified penalty on India if it didn't stop its imports of Russian crude oil.
Speaking yesterday, he appeared to comment on reports of a recent drop in Russian oil to India.
"I understand that India is no longer going to be buying oil from Russia," he said.
"That's what I heard. I don't know if that's right or not. That is a good step. We will see what happens."
