way too prevalent if you ask me. that's why side character syndrome is such a common thing in this hobby. pisses me off sometimes when the author decided to add a genuinely nice side ML who wholeheartedly loves and cherishes the MC but obviously won't win over the abusive asshole cause idk the MC and main ML shared a cookie in the past or something. like what's the point of adding them if they'll just end up being a cuck loser.
