Let's imagine for a moment that Microsoft and Sony really stop making games altogether. Do you think Nintendo would start making more "mature" games to fill the hole they left behind? (Mine is a unironic question, I'm legit curious). I mean, Nintendo has always been known as the "children-friendly" company, the one that catered to kids and nostalgia, while Sony and Microsoft were the hardboiled companies often making mature, gritty, gory games. Nintendo never really tried to enter this part of the market, except for some rare occasions, probably preferring to do what they do best - but if Sony and Microsoft really were to drop out of the "race", would Nintendo be able to fill that particular demand (and if so how), or would they keep making "safe" games?
