I had the sanwa JLF everyone does and the LS40, the LS58 and the LS62.
The biggest difference is by far the one between sanwa and seimitsu. The problem with the sanwa is that it feels sluggish, like the stick "sticks" to whichever direction you push it towards for a longer time. This isn't ideal on shmups where you're constantly tapping in different directions. It's easier to tell the "deadzone" on those.
Regarding seimitsu sticks there's a few differences there as well, but mostly it's the springs they include (light or heavy, the LS58 and the 62 are on the light side) and internally they're somewhat different (the LS58 fucked with me because not all directions felt the same, that was because pic related was differently designed).
