He definitely falls off by the end, but Rab carries for a big chunk of the game when he joins, up until halfway through Act 2 when Serena rejoins. Everyone in DQXI gets a time to shine, even if you wouldn't want to take them to the end. I'd say Jade is the least useful party member overall, but I still used her a lot in the middle chunk of the game when Erik's long setup got too impractical.
