He definitely falls off by the end, but Rab carries for a big chunk of the game when he joins, up until halfway through Act 2 when Serena rejoins. Everyone in DQXI gets a time to shine, even if you wouldn't want to take them to the end. Pretty much every slash alt member that weren't Adol got shelved hard for me. Pic related was super unmemorable and only ever froze poison rifts in the forest. Then Adol got the plot mulligan sword that finishes off those giant enemies, a combat feature.
Adol is always in the party so he's always relevant.
Ys 7 let Adol swap attack styles so it's not like it was an issue. Could have Geis or Elk handle slash.
Ys 8 Dana got plenty of time to shine in her segments so it wasn't like I could shelf her.
Frieda has a ranged steal and that's the only thing I can really give her. Don't remember ever needing to use it.
Also she has a barely-existent personality I genuinely don't remember what archetype she was supposed to be other than titty Geis.

Support character? Sure, her spells buffs and heals are good.
Magic dealer? She has tons of AP and INT for that (and she needs less babysitting than Nina to achieve similar results).
Physical dealer? Easy, buff her damage and spam skills that don't miss.
Peco is the goddamn monster whom only casual first-timers tend to ignore in favour of Garr (a fatal mistake), Rei is pretty straightforward (gotta go fast) yet great and Momo can fill whichever role you're missing. I don't trash Nina that much because she HAS the potential to be good (either as SANIC instead of Rei or as magic dealer comparable to Momo) but Garr is just... bad, his stats are just bad and even by going with the most optimal master route he'll still lose to a goddamn onion.

Perfect, you got Gungnir on PSP for that. It has levels but it means nothing as its mostly about increasing a characters' weight limit, allowing him to equip heavier items, and a tiny max HP. A unit's attack and defense is entirely about its equipments and since theres a weight limit, you can't fully load a unit with equipments. Most uniques characters aren't much different to generics as their only difference is they can equip different weapons that a generic can't equip simultaneously.

The main trick is that almost every map uses every currently available character and the game was actually playtested with that in mind. Too many SRPGs have a smorgasbord of characters and they only expect you to use a few, but they don't know which ones. So they either balance the game like you're picking the worst possible teams (so it's a cakewalk), or the strongest metagamed teams (so it's a grind)
Plus there's no permadeath, so the game doesn't have to pull punches and assume half your characters are dead at any given time.
And there's difficulty modes that can make the game super easy or sadistically impossible depending on what the player wants.

It's not a hard problem to solve. Just move past the archaic fire emblem model of "giant cast of stock characters who might permadie" and the balance problem fixes itself. That shit was never good. It fixes writing problems too, the party members should all matter to the story just like a regular RPG, instead of being weird mascots with one personality trait each.

Because when it comes to some objects, mostly chest, getting to 100% damage it will break the object and no item will come out. You need to be careful on attacking them, and need to just hit it around 80 - 90% mark. There are times where I screw up attacking a chest because I charge my attack too much. You might not encounter this problem if you play at higher difficulties than normal since everything becomes tougher in higher difficulties.
Also you need to plan ahead if you want to destroy an object as Warrior are only the unit that can destroy an object, and they respawn on 3 turns. Dashing around with a knight or jumping around with a Duelist so you can position the Warrior next turn makes the whole item hunting frustrating.
They should at least feature a quick save after a turn so you can easily reload when you accidentally break an object.

Yukari gets a theurgy that gives your entire party concentrate which is insanely good, especially iirc when stacked with other theurgies. Yukaris theurgy is essentially worth an extra 4.5 theurgies just from giving your 3 party members 1.5x more damage on all of their theurgies. Not to mention, yukari also gives herself concentrate which she can use on a slightly beefier garudyne. Try using Yukaris second theurgy - you will be shocked at how broken it is. Ken does not even come close to this level of damage and he has a gay panic button instead.

Ken is a total clunker of a character in FES cause he had light spells which were essentially RNG OHKO spells in all of FES and you cant OHKO bosses. then you had a bunch of elec spells which is shit because akihiko already learns elec spells so you're overlapping coverage by running ken. dude was ASS.

Plus he has no AoE abilities

He's probably a better healer cause he has his panic button theurgy but yukaris far better for just nuking any boss into orbit on turn 1

Ken and koromaru are arguably the best party members for climbing in both fes and reload because they can hit multiple weaknesses. In fes they can hit up to 4 weaknesses thanks to elemental weapons. In episode aigis if you combine them with metis you get access to every relevant utility and weakness in the game offering for a party with perfect coverage without mcs input.

Aoe concentrate is worthless and a complete waste of her actual theurgy which actually hits harder than Akihikos and Mitsurus, especially because you have so many other sources of charge/concentrate including items and fuuka. Her aoe concentrate will never line up consistently with Junpei and Akihiko and at best gets in the way if Mitsuru using her own concentrate. To be frank both her and koromarus charge/concentrate theurgies are massively overhyped and the scenario you came up with in your head only happens if her theurgy gauge happens to line up with the other 3 party members, which will never happen.
To top it all off Her entire deal is healing, something that can be easily replaced by an item all forms of it including status heal.
What hurts her the most though is what they gave her to fill in her downtime turns, masukunda, you will never want this over the more useful things other party members can do and koromaru gives this for free at the start of a fight with his trait.
Garudyne being her highest damage is also a major problem for her, its actually also a problem for Mitsuru cause Diamond dust is the last skill she gets. What this means is Yukari can never outpace Ken or Koromaru in damage due to lower multipliers. Mitsuru will naturally beat her by the end, and akihiko has god hand. Yukari is effectively the lowest damage of your party.
If you consider the actual mid to late game instead of just the final boss, yukari sucks even more. Ken starts with Mediarama while she has to wait till 40. He also gets Zio line, Dekaja and starts with Kougaon.

Bosses can’t be nuked turn 1 because of they will take capped damage but even if we go by the scenario you planted:
Using her concentrate theurgy turn 1 is a waste compared to using her damage one. At best you can use this strat to one shot the reaper without armageddon in turn 1 at a high level like 80 but not only does it not involve her second theurgy its also not really impressive.
You would have to line up her theurgy gauge with everyone else’s perfectly and also without getting in the way of fuukas theurgy in order to get that x4.5 damage this will never happen. Herbs also exist and are infinitely more useful.
Kens second theurgy is actually useful in low level runs particularly against the reaper and comes early when it can actually come in handy.
Honestly if koromaru and yukaris second theurgies were actually good you would see them used in joker fight, but no that fight is ALL junpei and Mitsuru and specifically with concentrate herbs and because of their multipliers. Ken is also better than Yukari in that fight but Akihiko is a better option for the 4th member. Ironically enough Koromaru is the worst in that fight.

It's proving a tad more challenging than Lunar Silver Star Story Complete with the bosses. The first Lunar game I was able to literally auto-battle EVERYTHING - every boss, including the final one. With 3x speed it was hilarious to watch it fly by.

I have had to actually put in manual commands twice so far in Lunar 2, up to Black Dragon now.

I don't grind, but I do fight every enemy I see. Except the end of Lunar 1, I got to level 70 mindlessly grinding while watching TV then fought the final boss.

For a while, there's no reason to not deploy him since you don't have enough characters to go past the deploy limit, but once you do, he goes on the bench. I found Keith to be more useful than him.

There just aren't enough decent physical skills in DDS to justify having a physical specialist when the well-rounded main character can use the one or two you want just fine. I dunno, even though she was hardly ever in my party in Act 3 I still considered her useful thanks to the ability to swap party members whenever you want. Having Serena's impractically strong heals in your pocket to break out on demand meant that my party could just focus on doing as much damage as possible for most of any given fight.

Look at it this way, if her heals were weaker, you'd need to keep her in your party all the time to heal and provide support every round. But she's so good at her job that she only needs to punch in twice a week and she still keeps ahead of productivity.

yukari starts with concentrate, mitsuru can use concentrate, fuuka can give everyone else concentrate, or you use an herb this is objectively better for the reaper (which is literally the only fight where this is applicable) than wasting her turn giving concentrate to 2 characters (since mitsuru doesn’t need it). Moreover Yukari and Koromarus damage theurgies are stronger than Mitsurus and Akihikos, Kens is strongers than yukari and koromarus, this is to make up for the fact that akihiko gets an extra multiplier from buffs and mitsuru gets magic ability in her ultimate weapon (at the end of the fucking game of course).

Your problem is that you’re overvalueing a theurgy that can be replaced by an herb item.
Once again, if your idea of why this is broken is you can use it in the beginning of the fight to buff 3 theurgies and one shot every endgame boss then your logic is fundamentally flawed because
1. Yukari gets auto concentrate so you waste that concentrate applying her concentrate one
2. Everyone can just use an herb
3. Everyone is fully buffed thanks to auto-ma and at full sp so fuuka will give you charge/concentrate for free at the start

Garudyne being better than Ziodyne is irrelevant because ken gets Kougaon. Ken also gets access to elec amp on a weapon so he does zio better than Akihiko on a turn by turn basis.
Dekaja and karns are more rare items than bead chains but sure they can also be replaced by items, what can’t be replaced is his second theurgy.
The last thing I’m going to point out is fight difficulty. Nuking every boss with full theurgy bars is possible without concentrate or charge theurgies because of fuuka. Akihiko, Junpei, aigis, and probably mitsuru as well can all one shot the reaper at a high enough level as well. Your entire scenario is pretty much based off the final boss, which has several forms with low hp that die to a single buffed god hand. Moreover, if you were to fight the reaper at a low level like 60, the most valuable party member is ken while the least valuable is Yukari because she shares a weakness with Aigis.
I just don’t think wasting the beginning turn of a character that can one shot an hp bar to give everyone something they are already getting is good or even broken. You know whats actually broken for nyx? Junpeis crit amp with apt pupil sword or strike boost/amp god hands coming from a buffed akihiko every turn.

An herb doesn’t use an entire theurgy bar with a shitty condition

The TP system really hurt Diana. Even on an occasion where I'm comfortable using some ammo on an encounter, I have to spend a bunch of turns building up TP to actually use her firearms, and by that point the enemy's been softened up to the point it'd be a waste. Unlike Deathpolca and Ange, she doesn't have a good way to self-generate TP either.

Second off since you are talking about Yukaris second theurgy then we also have to assume what this can even be used for. This comes late during the 5th block of tartarus so theres basically only strega and nyx left as far as bosses goes, not much contribution left if I am being honest. At this point all tartarus bosses don’t get the damage cap so you can one shot them with pretty much anyone, so yukaris aoe concentrate is basically not only redundant to fuuka but also overkill.

Lastly lets talk about how you would use it or koromarus.
Ideally you start the fight with koromaru or her going first depending on setup and they buff everyone with charge/concentrate. Great you throw out three theurgies takaya is still alive because of the damage cap and you finish the fight easily. Or you could just…start the fight with 4 characters that can actually deal damage, have fuuka give everyone charge and concentrate and accomplish the same exact thing thanks to damage caps.
Lets assume you’re fighting nyx, you do this aoe concentrate theurgy in the beginning of the fight and one shot 3 forms as you only got 3 theurgies. Okay so how does yukaris concentrate theurgy or koromarus line up with everyone else now during the fight? Right it doesn’t, not without wasting a bunch of dead turns.

Lets talk about episode aigis now, if aoe concentrate is so busted then why is it utterly useless on joker bossfight?

I guess if you weren’t optimizing it might be useful? But I mean if you aren’t thats still going to be lower damage on average since you have a lot of dead turns setting up buffs and stuff like debilitate.

No, she's really not. She's pretty mediocre. Karn skills can be replaced by items, and can't do damage. One shot kill has a third of the base power of brave blade and a quarter of god's hand, so Yusuke and Ryuji outclass her on physical damage even with gun boost and amp. Akechi's laevateinn has the same power as god's hand as well.
