And contain them with Philippines that have no air defence?
By placing Naval strike missile launchers on island 300m x 800m in size at most?

PLAN south fleet is based at Yulin naval base in Hainan island, boxing them even temporarily would increase the odds when engaging PLAN in Korea or Taiwan.
Protecting that base is the reason why Chinese fortify islands to the south to act as tripwire.
