And many, many more Chinese cities had them at the beginning of the 20th century. Not anymore. Cause they Chinese rulers deemed them useless in modern times and had them demolished. Like the Meiji era Japanese did with the castles.
The castles that got reconstructed were mainly destroyed during WW2, by the way, like Shuri, Osaka or Hiroshima. They had enough blueprints and photos for those. Same with the temples and shrines.
