All this talk about cottagecore and 10 adopted war orphans has got me thinking about Hans and Henry's potential parenting skills. Henry would probably be a cool dad and have more patience with tantrums and dirty diapers but I think he'd also underestimate how little survival instincts small children have when you stop watching them for 5 seconds. Hans would probably be overprotective and live in a constant state of anxiety over their kids hurting themselves. He'd probably feel a lot of guilt about not being a good enough parent so Henry would have to reassure him constantly. Henry would take to the role more naturally but Hans has no frame of reference since he doesn't remember his parents so he'd just do the opposite of what Hanush did and hope for the best.
>Hans discovers that babies sometimes scratch themselves in the face and starts bawling because he thought the scratches were smallpox rash
>baby gets colic and Hans panics because he doesn't know what to do
>Hans has a heart attack when their toddler runs into a tree at full speed and cries harder than the kid does
>Hans has a nightmare about their child wandering into the nearby river and drowning so he makes Henry build a fence around the cottage
>toddler learns to climb the fence anyway and Henry has to stop Hans from putting a cowbell on their kid
