I guess I understand why certain christians want to anachronistically project modern views backwards in time to win arguments, but it stretches credulity that ecclesiastically-educated christians in that time period were OK with saint legends about resurrecting the dead or driving snakes out of Ireland but "clearly" weren't on board with a literal interpretation of Genesis
