The letter was in written in the light of the news about the deportations of the Hungarian Jews to Auschwitz, especially after parts of the Auschwitz escapee reports had been published. The parenthesis were added to provide context
Minor mistake on my previous post btw, I said the letter was from November 7th but it was actually July 11th (it was me getting confused by American vs European dating formats) 11/7/1944

Also, Winston Cuhrchill did mention the holocaust in his memoirs after the war ended, the claim he didn't is bullshit and the most basic of research would show that. From the first chapter of "The Gathering Storm"
