This sounds more right when you consider the scenes with Saber suddenly being moe. Liking a stuffed lion is nice, and caring for Ilya is even nicer. Being afraid of her "unsightly body" that's as slim as a supermodel is just embarrassing. And I'm saying this as someone who loves Saber & Shirou. Shirou's protectiveness of Saber as a girl can still exist in his own headspace since it's coming from a lunatic who wants to sacrifice himself before inconveniencing anyone else, and it's something that he grows out of as his bond with Saber deepens, but I'm glad we can have a laugh at it
