The Chinese Revolt
February 27, 1935

The Far East once again burns with revolution, and the future of Imperial Britain’s stake in the Chinese markets may hang in the balance.

Last month, the Revolutionary Chinese Association led by the Jacobin Li Dazhao revolted against the western-backed Harmonious Empire of China, or the Taiping Kingdom as some call it, under Hong Tianguang. This concerned London, because the trade markets in China are some of the most important in the world to the Empire. Britain has had a military mission to the Taiping Kingdom for years to bolster its military forces. If they lose this civil war, that could all be for naught.

In 1912, the Qing Empire collapsed under revolutionary republican insurrection. European forces intervened to stop the advancement of the Republican Chinese forces from destroying the Heavenly Kingdom outright. Out of thanks for Europe's assistance, the Taiping Kingdom ceded Shandong province to a newly-formed trade organization that would oversee European interests in China. The Taiping Kingdom hoped this trade organization would assist it in the future should the Republicans return.

Today, the Republicans have returned, but Tsingtao remains silent of offers of help. Imperial Britain, however, has responded to the Taiping Kingdom's requests for aid. Understanding the importance of China to the Empire's future, Prime Minister Lintorn-Orman authorized the deployment of three duopod Automat divisions to the Heavenly Kingdom.

Last week, the Automat divisions arrived in China, and within days they were on the front lines. Reports suggest that the duopods have shocked and stunned the Republican forces, and have made breakthroughs in the Republican defensive lines, shattering the Chinese and sending them fleeing. Few in China have ever seen an Automat and their ferociousness in battle. Metal clashes against flesh in China, and metal is winning handedly.
