No it was literally the new hires that didn't understand Splatoon getting mad about getting flanked by the guys on the other team during playtesting. Why else do you think the map layouts changed in the gayest ways from how they appeared in the early trailers? They got their shit together with later maps and some ofcthe reworks but the game is mostly abandoned at this point. They didn't even want to do third kits until Nintendo forced them to keep doing something to keep the game going in the Switch 2 era.
