I had a sizeable trust left to me from my great grandfather. He was long dead by the time I was born so he wrote the trust in a way that in the event I exist in the future I receive the funds at 18. Unfortunately my boomer parents coveted this money and on my 18th birthday they used my naivety and trust in them to convince me to sign it away to their control. They still won’t talk about it, I never even knew how much it was though I am pretty sure it was in six figures.
