Yeah I can behind that, the stuff you describe is kind of how I feel about that stuff, I don't see myself drawn towards that community in any way.
I also don't think I like furry/antro art significantly more often than other artstyles I enjoy. It's just that I can appreciate a lot of that classic furry style often.
The concept of a fursona is something I can at least understand (if not pursued to the max where it becomes trans nonsense but with animals instead), as you say it's ultimately just creating a character. If I could draw I would probably do something like that because why not that seems fun.
