It's "ok", I feel like it has one of the worst pacings I've ever seen and it reminded me too much of the ways in which XIV tries to pad its length in the worst ways possible.
The structure of every arc is exactly the same:
>Have to go to place X
>For reasons, you first have to stop by a village in the middle of the road. There you will meet a leader of sorts (A Mayor, the leader of a whorehouse, a rebels boss and so on) who will give you a stupid fetch quest to see if he can trust you and after that will give you a nice boyscout patch you can attach to your armor. Now you can do some more fetch quests for the village and move on, thinking "wow, that was completely useless and had nothing to do with the plot. Imagine if we could just not do this. Hopefully it won't happen again!"
>You now enter a linear instance where you have to fight fodder, kill some miniboss, fight fodder, kill another miniboss, fight some more fodder and now you can fight the actual boss.
Repeat this until the end of the game, it genuinely made me want to jump off a bridge from the sheer amount of useless characters the game was absolutely obsessed with trying to make me like, see the Blacksmith, Gav or the manager of your base. Meanwhile the only somehow decently written one in the story is killed off after the first arc and the game spends 80% of its remaining narrative just sucking his dick and basically sayingf "Ah, if only that wonderful character we wrote was still here!"
For bizarre reasons the game also reaches a massive high in power scale during the Bahamuth fight that is never replicated, the remaining part is a massive wet fart by comparison.
I could add that the combat is also garbage, there's no RPG elements whatsoever and enemy variety sucks. All you do the entire time is basically hit enemies until stunned and then use all your cooldown abilities, rinse and repeat.
Just play GranblueFantasy Relink. Game was actually fun. Get it onsale and coop with your bros.
