All it takes is standing in a coherent formation with your mates and you can mow them down like chaff if they're stupid enough to attempt a straightforward charge. You don't even need a good weapon, the Goedendag was a terrible weapon for receiving cavalry charges.
Fun fact, after the battle the knights were blamed for not waiting for their crossbows to disorder the infantry formation. That's the secret sauce behind the knight's success.
