>BN1
Operate Shooting Star with the translation patch on the DS. It's just an objective improvement in every way.
>BN2 through BN4
You have three choices which are
1) Use the relocalization patches to translate the games correctly.
2) Use the Wii U VC roms which instantly grant you the multiplayer chips, e-Reader content, and Chip Gate content when you access the multiplayer menu in each game.
3) Play through it using the Legacy Collection and just append the text fixes if you have hacked systems or are on PC.
>BN5
You can see the previous choices for 2 through 4, or you can just play 5 DS since it's pretty much just an improvement on the GBA versions and implements everything smoother. 5 DS also has an undub for the voices they added in that version.
>BN6
You have two choices which are
1) Use the translation patch for the Japanese versions so that you retain all the content since the western versions cut them out.
2) Play the Legacy Collection which implemented them back in and naturally has you using the Chip Gate content.
>Battle Chip Challenge
This is on GBA and Wonder Swan (N1 Battle). GBA version is translated, WS isn't. There is also a Chip Control romhack to allow you to play it without being at the mercy of RNG but that's up to you since it's not the intended way to play it.
4.5 (GBA), Network Transmission (GC), and Battle Network WS (Wonder Swan) only have one version to play. 4.5 and WS both have translation patches.
When it comes to Star Force
>SF1
Star Force DX. It's a romhack that is functionally a Pokemon Yellow version of the games and the best way to play it. It makes most touch screen prompts doable with buttons, allows you to play all three versions and obtain their content in the same game, and also lets you access the Lunar Knights content which was scrubbed from the western version.
>SF2
"Not Quite DX" romhack. Makes the multiplayer requirements singleplayer and lets you get Tribe King alone.
>SF3
Base DS version is fine.
