That stretch is the home to the worst air pollution levels in the entire city. Feels like breathing toxic smog so I wasn't surprised to learn that fact.
And yeah it's hoaching with junkies. All of Union Street is due to the homeless hostel there. A shame that tourists and what not exit central straight into that dump. There's that building directly across from central with all the scaffolding on it that has sat vacant for years as well.
