I liked FF7 R but it fills me with existential dread in the sense that they can make a fun game but completely rely on old characters while creating new characters and new plot points that are just awful and completely forgettable to the point where I'd consider it even worse if I did accurately recall the ghosts interfering with the plot or the side characters that completely fell flat in being at all memorable or likeable.

It's exactly like a decent fanfic but as soon as the writer starts venturing into their original stuff they completely shit the bed creating an uneven experience where only the good stuff is remembered by anyone so everyone's just like
>"That was good"
and then they fucking cringe when they're actually confronted with how it actually was.
