I used to cringe at the term, but I’d say “late stage capitalism” is a good description of the current stagnation we’re living in, where a lot has become consolidated and businesses aren’t really doing much in the way of innovation, instead just finding ways to squeeze more money out of customers while also making them do more of the work so they can reduce payroll expenses and call it “convenience.”
