Quatrich and Jake briefly teaming up?

So far the biggest enigma to me is Lo'ak.
I see what is the Kiri's role and purpose - she is sort of Chosen One shit.
I see what the Spider's role and purpose - he is sort of linking piece between the humans and Navi.
But Lo'ak so far is mostly about the side shit, like the romance with a water chick and typical 'im stranger to them' shit, which is the theme basically all other kids share anyway.
I feel like so far he is just there to be sad about the brother.
Maybe he will have the arc of trying to live up to the brother and Jake and become the leader in the future, idk.
