I'm thinking of visiting Buenos Aires in September for Ani-Con. I'm white, but don't speak Spanish (although there's time to learn enough basics to not be a complete embarrassment). I've been to western anime cons before and my main goal is to attend the concert by ALI at the con.

How retarded is this idea?
Has anyone here been to Ani-Con or any other large conventions in Buenos Aires? Are there any Spanish language AR forums/sites for weebs where I can try to find a group to tag along with? I'm assuming that if there's demand for an anime convention in AR then it's not exactly a niche hobby? I'm also in my 30s but, to be blunt, I don't care about hookups and just don't want to be alone at a big event in a foreign country.
