Unless they start aging up the characters I don't think School plots will ever fully go away. With the pruning more school adjacent characters like Ethan and Jessica and with eps like the Numbericons episode showing that the current writers aren't fans of school plots they are still a well that at least with Summer the writers will still need to drip into from time to time to keep her consistent.
