reading about ZScript and the monster data, exact values for hp and movement speed and stuff. have some ideas on how to improve the monster AI by seeing if there's some way the enemies can move and shoot at the same time, and it seems there's a flag in ZDoom called CHF_FASTCHASE which will cause them to circle strafe you, gonna experiment with it later

you know how the green armor is shit? feel like doing something about that. i experimented by just changing it around to work like an armor bonus but it's too powerful now, so i'm thinking of moderating it a little bit and making it so that first it gives you +50, then if < 100 = 100. i can play around. also considered just making one tier of armor so there's never downside to picking up green

my playthrough is currently aborted because once i started dealing with demons the absurd move speed multiplier as you can see in >>11815157 is causing their pathfinding to glitch out like crazy. sometimes they just run in triangles around you and never actually attack

this shit is basically my midlife crisis. i played doom a lot when i was smol boi and then binged on it really hard when the game was open sourced after zdoom was created. i've beaten doom 1 on UV, decided i didn't feel like doing doom 2 and rather do UV Fast instead, and after beating ep 1 on UV Fast i felt like modding doom 1 to skullfuck you without using nightmare mode respawns

it's giving me something to do. i haven't made mods for anything in a really long time. reading a random ass gaming news article that doom got a patch drove my interest and i've been having a good time picking this game back up. main adjustment is getting used to bluetooth lag (which isn't as bad as expected) and old man reflexes (i'm starting to wonder if i need to increase my sensitivity to compesnate, i sweep my mouse pretty far and been having trouble with flickshots)
