been working on a mod to replace the pistol with a weapon that isn't completely useless. found a pistol start replacement mod with a really good sprite but it was way overpowered, had some bugs, and made the chaingun obsolete, so i completely rewrote the code from scratch. it's not quite ready to post yet because this is the first mod i've made in a decade+ and i'm trying to figure out how to create pistol bullets that do half damage. right now it just consumes 2 ammo per burst and plays a fire sound effect every other shot. it does pretty good burst but its DPS isn't much higher than the regular pistol and it's very ammo inefficient, however it has perfect spread, so it's not completely useless once you have other weapons. i'll post it here when it's done but i'm not sure if i can release it anywhere else without permission of the original author or not

right now it fires a 10 (actually 5) round burst with an erratic pattern. it could be good for deathmatch, if you're a noob, or want to make some ridiculously hard wad a little easier at the beginning.

Do a UV-Max run of Plutonia map 5 WITH -solo-net enabled (oh, and don't die/respawn)

An example command line would go like

For those unaware, -solo-net enables multiplayer spawns in single player, sometimes treated as a higher difficulty than UV. Everyone here's already played Plutonia normally, doing typical UV-max runs every time seems kinda boring, and as far as iwad levels go this one is uniquely different/enjoyable with multiplayer spawns, so here we are. The only problems is that it might be too hard for some, you can watch my demo or the one on the archive if you're having trouble. Let me know if I should pick easier stuff next time.

-solo-net also has some weird behavior compared to singleplayer (weapon spawns never disappear, you can respawn after dying) so be aware.

i do have a pretty high end phone (galaxy s25 ultra) with a 120hz screen so when i feel like i'll try it out and see if maybe i could do a stable 60

i really don't want to waste money on a desktop until i see the sys requirements for windows 12. rumors going around intel is working on an AI chip for it.

anyway lmaooooooo what i have done. now that i'm getting into zscript i think i should not use this mod and just give all the monster speeds a pass, maybe figure out how to increase their accuracy as well

still wish i could find a good AI mod so the monsters don't do stupid shit like this and just drop down. the one i'm using is decent (enemies alert other enemies to your location like metal gear solid, try to pathfind to you, and don't give up the chase so easily) but could use a lot of improvement

it's a long off topic story. i keep getting targeted by hackers so i need modern hardware or i get pwned. i'm really poor so ever since my desktop died forever so i just finance phones. android is more secure than windows and i think windoze might be dying out by 2050. the only thing i can't do on android that i really want to is computer programming so i can make my own video game and run GIMP and a couple other specialized apps like that

at the rate things are going steam is going to be on the android app store, and i just read in the tech news recently while it's not quite ready to 1.0 release, they're working on a windows emulator for android, and yes, it can run steam and vintage steam games. would be nice to get the collection of retro games back

i already have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and next month i'm gonna get a cheap 1080p120hz gaming monitor and wireless charger, then i need to get a proper keyboard and new mousepad because this one got fucked up trying to clean it. i'll grab my old phone and take a pic of my setup [s4s] says its kinda comfy

there are only 3 maps tho because I believe to have read this was supposed to be a trilogy or something but only ZAERO1.WAD got released
the maps are very large detailed and complex
the first map has something like 230 something monsters and 10 secrets
it also has messages on screen in style of more modern wads like Final Carnage like when you try to open something that you cant open yet it says in Q2 style:

i don't want to talk about it. you have no idea who i pissed off. after my router got hacked a month later i got sim swapped and lost my google account and had my password manager scrambled, had to change all my cards and bank account number back in march because my router got hacked and they got spyware on my old phone via that. i did get my google account back after a lot of phone calls and got a new phone for free as a result of all the inconveniences

i'm happy with what i got and like i said, the things i can't get on android are game dev programs and art/sound stuff. money's really tight in 2025 and when i went window shopping for desktops. the floor on what i need to spend is $500 just for the desktop. if i wanted something for gaming, i'd rather get a steam deck where i'm at

YOU might be able to get away with some old ass hardware, but i need to take extra precautions sadly

I have a question regarding secrets in the automap of GZDoom
why sometimes when I discover a secret area and the secret revealed message is played (lets say its a corridor that leads away from the room I was in into a new room containing whatever) and I open the automap it doesnt show anything?
I mean nothing past the room I was in before past the point of entering the secret sector
nothing shows no walls no nothing
yet for other secret sectors structured pretty much the same in the same or other map wads it does show properly the secret sector discovered in pink/magenta outlines?
I have the setting in options/automap to show secret sectors only when discovered yet why doesnt it behave the same with all of them?
is it a GZDoom setting, a feature (read "bug") or is it defined by the map wad/other mods I have installed?
Im the guy playing ZAERO1.WAD and out of 10 secrets I found only 7 and missed one because it was a one time elevator that I fell off from so technically 8
is there a way without cheating to be sure where secrets are?
I know that using the default custom automap colors in GZDoom the lines that you cross that are interactable (including the visible switches) are marked in white (like when you cross a line when going down a corridor a wall opens up somewhere which might be a secret or simply open up monster closets or something
the secrets where you need to shoot a wall texture with a hitscan weapon to do something is it possible to see them in the automap?
in short how the fuck do you get 100% secrets when playing blind?
I was watching last night the playthough of decino playing AUGER ZENITH and after he clears a map if he cant find all secrets after a while he presses something on his automap and he immediately sees them
how the fuck does he do it?
is it dependant on the source port he used?
I only ever used GZDoom since forever so idk about the others

You absolutely didn't look that hard. Final Doomer, DAKKA, Legendoom, DRLA, Lt. Typhon, Pvt. Stone, and Project Babel all have way better pistols, and Project Babel lets you choose between three starting weapons. There's a shitload of other mods out there that make the pistol not worthless.

I ain't flaming you, though don't you think Zscript is a little overkill for something like this? Unless of course you're wanting to specifically practice with Zscript, then that's a fair reason.
A_FireBullets is a DECORATE function, though I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same in Zscript.

Also it's a little disappointing that you want this thing to become useless once you get a chaingun, to me half the fun of making new weapons is to keep everything worthwhile even after getting a full set. Only swapping out the pistol while keeping the rest of the vanilla arsenal intact is admittedly kinda tough.

the inspiration for the mod was that i was using a combination of 10.5x spawn multi, ultimate custom doom, and i_timescale to make e1m1 fucking impossible, and i kept dying over and over trying to get the green armor and a shotgun. i got sick of i_timescale first and 10.5x second, and at the moment all my monsters have 3x movement speed and the quad damage - it's the only way to frag

i'm a gaming masochist, but being knocked down to 34 hp or less after the first encounter unless i get some godly strafes in or lucky monster rng was too much

when i feel like programming again i'm going to give all the monsters movement speed and animation frames a pass to replicate the madness of using i_timescale without all the weird quirks it was causing

when i used to play zdoom when it was shiny and new i would play with custom weapons all the time but now i just want to make the vanilla campaign fuck me up the ass

reading about ZScript and the monster data, exact values for hp and movement speed and stuff. have some ideas on how to improve the monster AI by seeing if there's some way the enemies can move and shoot at the same time, and it seems there's a flag in ZDoom called CHF_FASTCHASE which will cause them to circle strafe you, gonna experiment with it later

you know how the green armor is shit? feel like doing something about that. i experimented by just changing it around to work like an armor bonus but it's too powerful now, so i'm thinking of moderating it a little bit and making it so that first it gives you +50, then if < 100 = 100. i can play around. also considered just making one tier of armor so there's never downside to picking up green

my playthrough is currently aborted because once i started dealing with demons the absurd move speed multiplier as you can see in >>11815157 is causing their pathfinding to glitch out like crazy. sometimes they just run in triangles around you and never actually attack

this shit is basically my midlife crisis. i played doom a lot when i was smol boi and then binged on it really hard when the game was open sourced after zdoom was created. i've beaten doom 1 on UV, decided i didn't feel like doing doom 2 and rather do UV Fast instead, and after beating ep 1 on UV Fast i felt like modding doom 1 to skullfuck you without using nightmare mode respawns

it's giving me something to do. i haven't made mods for anything in a really long time. reading a random ass gaming news article that doom got a patch drove my interest and i've been having a good time picking this game back up. main adjustment is getting used to bluetooth lag (which isn't as bad as expected) and old man reflexes (i'm starting to wonder if i need to increase my sensitivity to compesnate, i sweep my mouse pretty far and been having trouble with flickshots)

I'll give you my opinion on it: I personally don't like the voxel models because their motion looks a bit uncanny to me, so I don't like that.

However, just looking at them in stills, I appreciate the work that has gone into converting and essentially re-crafting the original sprites into three-dimensional objects with volume, that was REALLY not a trivial effort, the detailing and consistency is impressive.
Considering that many of these characters were originally digitzed physical models, it's all the more impressive that they look as good as they do. I always expected that voxel monsters wouldn't ever look much better than pic related, but I was proven DEAD WRONG.

You do you, the only thing I'll really complain about is smudge filters, because it looks really ugly.

Gave Combustion a shot. Immediate inclusion for one of my favorite wads for the year. Great texturing and visual tricks while still feeling very DOOM-y, fantastic pacing, not exactly hard but definitely high energy, great map layouts, works well in co-op, and while I want more, the 5 maps are great for those that want a brief shot of DOOM to play.

hey i'm back, the general principle seems to work. there's a function called A_Wander which doesn't trigger attacks and by using an increment i can make fire instantly, start wandering for a bit, then resume firing. it kinda looks like an FPS player strafing like crazy. once i get the firing animation frames programmed into the wander block i'll post clip of e1m1

If you're playing a console port (other than Jaguar or XBLA) where you can't select individual weapons with keys and instead have to cycle through each weapon, then cycling backwards or forwards to the pistol might be faster based om what you have equipped/in your inventory. I used to do this once in awhile in DOOM 64 and PSX when I'd run across one or two zombie soldiers, since they die in a couple hits and shells are somewhat more valuable in those games.

i perform badass executions with one pistol shot on enemies that i've weakened enough with superior weapons. usually this is when a shotgun blast fails to kill an imp, but i've also had a cyberdemon survive a BFG 2-shot, had a hunch he was low enough, and finished him off with a single pistol shot.
the benefit to this is that it looks cool and the cyberdemon looks like such a NERD getting killed by the pistol

The added Archies at the start make me bunker up in the starting room, because what the fuck do I have to even fight them with? Eventually killing one and making my way to the courtyard, the Cyber doesn't make it very easy, which IS the point, but after just partial anus enlargement I manage to get a foothold in one of the stairs, and I kind of just desperately bunker down there.
I don't make much better progress because I'm so undergunned, by the end there I go for a Hail Mary for that teleporter, because I remember it goes to that Megasphere, but I choke and back up, instead of running forward, and so my ass gets fully dilated.

3/10, it's Ghost Town except solonet makes it not really fun. The Ancient Aliens map had a harsh ending, but overall it mostly gave me the firepower I actually needed to fight (because I wasn't expected to be multiple people).
I'll lift some weights for dying.

You have more patience for doom than I do for, perhaps anything. There are some people who actually balance their multiplayer spawns as a kind of UV+, but I doubt Milo was thinking about it. I just liked how different it is compared to the singleplayer experience. I also think I got lucky with the archviles, who just ignored me until I was ready to rocket them.

And in case anyone's wondering, I watch all the demo's that get posted but I might not reply to everyone. Sometimes I just don't have anything to say, and I know some people get annoyed by mass replies. Something to keep in mind if anyone thinks they've escaped my judgement.

I think there are some cool visual gimmicks present in Turbo that make it worth checking out (mirrors in bathrooms, rotating warning lights), but I still prefer the original overall. It wasn't too hard to begin with imo, some of the fights just don't function the same when you remove so many enemies, and some fights just don't even exist anymore. I kinda wish Mouldy directed his efforts towards making something wholly new instead.

one idea i suggested once was having a mapset based around "thing" limitations - maybe set the limit at something that seems lofty, like 128 or 256, but a "thing" isn't just a monster - it's all weapons, ammo, health pickups, decorations, AND monsters too, so it'd be easy to run out if you're not thinking carefully. i think there'd be potential for a lot of variety which is crucial for these kind of community things

to make the Assault Rifle in my mod to be dropped by the Zombieman (the basic ones that are seen carrying an assault rifle) but the Chaingunners and fixed CHaingun spawns placed by the map to spawn my modded Chaingun
how the fuck do you achieve this?
Trailblazer does it, it lets you choose what replaces what and what enemy drops what without defining new monster types
I tried opening Trailblazer in SLADE but I cant understand shit its all scripted
my idea was to make my custom Assault Rifle to be dropped by Zombieman by replacing the half ammo Clip they drop
but idk nor I can find info on how the half ammo Clip they drop is defined as an actor
is there just one type of Clip and the amount of ammo it gives you is hardcoded depending if it was placed or dropped by the Zombiemen and also based on the difficulty level?
I dont wanna define new Zombiemen or touch monsters in any way to keep max compatibility with custom map defined monsters or monster replacement mods

I read a thread yesterday where there was a Nightdive employer and coder that contributed to the work of the last Q2 Remaster explaining why its hard to port stuff like Zaero and other unofficial expansions into the Q2 Remaster is because they use custom DLLs
for example I read on the Q2 Fandom Wiki page that Zaero is compatible with some modern source ports because they support the custom DLL Zaero needs but all the other unofficial mission packs are only compatible with the 1995 original edition of Quake 2 they were made for because the custom DLL they use is based on the original one something or other
to 'port' them to the Remaster you have to redo them from scratch
one example of this is the remaster (more of a Remake) of Q2 PSX

it begins like a normal replacer

so A_FaceTarget controls the angles hitscanners use to attack? so by going:

SPOS F 0 A_FaceTarget;

now they aim directly at the target? then, in order to give them xaero aim, i would need to edit the RNG in A_SposAttackUseAtkSound? i'm going to try to design some kind of system where it has no difficulty hitting just holding down AW like a drooling retard, but if you're moving erratically, decreases the chances you get hit

going to finish modding up the monsters in e1 and do some negative omega testing. i'm considering removing RNG from the damage sytem, but i've been reading apparently carmack uses pRNG that doesn't quite euqal average random chance for some reason, so i need to figure out where to set it on the "get fucked" side

it's a more modest brutal fork with a decently smooth gameplay flow. kinda reminds me of how people here used to describe johnny doom, but with an et*rnal flare to it.
though i feel like its balancing starts to limp when it comes to fights focused on heavier enemies, since most of them are more mobile, UV buffs enemy stats, and half of ammo pickups are less valuable.
unless it's just one of those mods that is tested by people with enough caffeine in their system to kill a horse.
or i'm just bad or something.

Question about how the GZ turrets operate in the 2023 remaster - do they still have this bizarre quirk when getting close enough to it for a full SSG to connect, the blaster turret suddeenly changes its RoF from roughly 1 shot per second to slightly higher than the player's machinegun?
Because that shit was annoying as fuck in vanilla GZ.

the problem is that the PSX Q2 'Remake' is never gonna be added officially to the licensed KexQ2 Remaster on Steam or any other platform and selectable from the menu like the other mission packs because of licensing and the fact that it used PSX Quake 2 as title
with Remasters and Remakes of official licensed products there is always the problem of licensing
for example Zaero mission pack was published by an actual commercial company that is now defunct so I dont know the commercial rights of it to who they belong
I dont know what happens when a software which rights are owned by a defunct company (that was not bought by another company but simply closed down) what happens to the rights if it becomes free software or whatnot
for example for Zaero from the Q2 fandom wiki it says:

but it doesnt say who patched it after the publishing company died
probably someone from the developement team that patched it and uploaded it to ModDB

there was another commercial mission pack called Juggernaut and this one was published by a company that later got acquired by Activision so the rights are owned by Activision I guess
and another mission pack that ended up being called Quake II - Unseen because this one never managed to become a commercial product because the company (made of 3 guys) that made it never got to get a publisher and later the developer company closed down
this one hasnt been updated to run even on modern source ports it runs only on the original Q2 client from 1995

Well, it'd be nice to have a consistent visual theme, and picking one texture set to mostly adhere to would keep things straightforward and coherent.
I suggested Nightmare Corp because it looks cool, but GothicTX still looks good.
Potentially we could look at The Darkening, it has cool and distinct textures as well.

The only texture set I'd object to is OTex, because I've already grown tired of it and it's been used shitloads in the past few years. Also it's completely fucking enormous to scroll through all its flats and textures.

I think that's been the fault of some coding error in their attack behaviour, one that made them work not unlike a player-controlled sprite in any old 8-bit shmup where your re-firing speed was handled by a simple logic of "anywhere inbetween how fast you can press the fire button and how often the autofire is set to loop - but only if there aren't more than 2 projectiles belonging to you present onscreen".
One can check it out for confirmation by hugging the wall a blaster turret is placed at to have your hitboxex collide and see if it starts shooting at you around the same firing rate as your own HyperBlaster, if not even higher IIRC.

It's a custom mod, but created by few Nightdive guys (mainly Paril) who already started it before the release of Q2R, to be included with the release. PSX mod also contains further ai updates and other small fixes, so it's almost like an official patch. Bethesda just didn't want it added officially even thought Nightdive tried to negotiate with them. But big respect for Nightdive guys finishing it on their free time.

There is also Oblivion. Which is best commercial mission pack imo. Very good new Sonic Mayhem style soundtrack, friendly marines controlled by ai that fight alongside you in few maps, cool new weapons and of course 4 new stroggs to fight.

What comes Juggernaut, the commercial version is actually incomplete. It was finished years later by original developers for free. The commercial version is the worst commercial mission pack, but the finished version is actually pretty gud.

Map-Center is making remaster compatible version of Zaero, and then looking into remastering other commercial packs too. I'd expect them to make Zaero jam after it's done. They are also doing Call Of The Void jam, after it releases.

What comes to Extremities, if it's mods were converted to remaster, that would have amazing material for future single player jams. Imagine sp jam themed around Action Quake 2 weapons and city maps for example.

The future of Q2 is looking quite good.

I have no idea yet Netpack 1 was put together officially by Id and published officially by Activision yet it says on the Q2 fandom wiki page:

I found it on ModDB but it doesnt say anything if it was updated to run standalone or you need an install or pieces of the install of Quake 2
updating it to run as a custom deatchmatch/team deathmatch to KexQ2 would be pretty interesting because it has a unique way to handle wounds inflicted to enemy players you can cripple a player by shooting him in the leg or arms and also headshots do more damage
kinda like it worked in Soldier of Fortune where enemies had localized hitboxes based on which body part was hit
SoF the first one ran on a modified Quake engine but I dont remember if it was Q1 or Q2 engine

It does (mostly) work on Yamagi. The penultimate map does crash a lot because it's so large, but you can skip it by noclipping or just warping to final boss map. All else works. Even the friendly marines.

Remastering the mod is possible without tweaks to the kexport itself, but all code has to be built from scratch, just like with Zaero or Unseen.

Duke is dead and EDF recruits 8 other action heroes to replace him. Some of them are human, some are aliens or cyborgs, and some are medieval knights or warlocks. On some missions you fight against Duke 3d's aliens, on some Doom's demons and more. They are properly remastering Zaero at this point. It's supposed to release this year. The rest if remasters will be done in the future, if they will be done, but Zaero is the one they are focusing on right now.

Map jams are themed map packs with hub map with has portals to other maps. If Zaero Jam will be done and sure it will, it will be a separate standalone release from Zaero remaster, featuring all new maps with Zaero assets.

We already did with #00 minutes of /vr/, four times.
The reason I suggested 2048 is because it's bigger than tiny 1024 micro maps, but it's not so big that you could get carried away and make any Drake O'Brien style mega maps, it's a generous enough space where you could do quite a bit, but ultimately only so much.

The graphics take some getting used to, but yes, the levels play fairly well. They've seen some major changes since the early days of Freedoom, but they're still good. I guess what you could do is throw all of the Doom sprites and sounds into a PWAD and load that with Freedoom to make it a bit more like the original. You could probably also just throw all of Doom's textures in there as well, but I think Freedoom has some textures with no counterpart in any commercial IWAD, so you may get a slightly clashing art-style in some places.

Uh, I believe that Scythe 2 has a bunch of textures like that, some sourced out of Hexen 2. That wouldn't be a bad one, though I don't know if there's just a .wad with those textures anywhere.

It's all good man, I know it's kind of weird. Basically I started working at this place about 7 years ago as a janitor, it's a tech company in a office building. I had previously worked as an apartment maintenance technician where I had to be available 24/7 in case somebody's water heater is leaking or some shit. The owner of the building is a major jew that nickle and dimes everything, so he hired me with the understanding that (based on my "qualifications") I'd tend to the building's system alone and basically be the bitch of the unit day or night. Oh, if only he knew who was really getting jewed...

I was made a keyholder during the first month (when the last two guys were on their way out) so I could deal with infrastructure issues that nobody else wanted to. I was living at my buddy's mom's house when I first started and her business went under shortly after, so she sold the house and I was forced to leave and lived in my car for a couple months. I was looking for options, and quickly realized that nobody was at this place after 6-7pm, and I knew nobody came down to the basement except me. There are only two cameras, one at the north entrance and one in the lobby (and the basement entrance is at the rear, which you can reach from a back road), so I figured, hey, why not try sleeping in this place instead of my car where the windows get foggy in 10 minutes and I freeze to death in an hour?

The basement is a large room where we keep a bunch of old shit, and there are a few offshoot areas for utilities. I chose the sump pump room because it's small so heat doesn't dissipate as easily, and I can piss and pour cigarette ash down the openings. As for the elephant, it belonged to my girlfriend who died in a car crash in 2021, and the computer might look alright but it's a $300 build that I mangled together from an HP Elite Desk 800 G1 motherboard with some shit I bought off ebay. I'm running a k620 quadro and 8gb of RAM, but it's enough to suit my needs.

All I can say is that everybody is going to die one day, man. There's no permanent respite on this earth. I'm not stupid, I take measures to ensure my livelihood, but in lieu of my best efforts I could just as easily get caught down here tomorrow as anyone else might have some random thing happen to them that they couldn't predict. Life is a gamble. All that matters to me is carving out comfort where you can find it, for as long as you can, and hoping for the best. I pray to God every day, and so far he hasn't let me down. I'm saving up money to buy as a house, and as soon as I can muster the cash I'll be out of here and in my own place.

My favorite level is Perfect Hatred. I prefer D2 over all but that level is crazy good, especially since Romero made the whole thing in 6 hours (so I've heard). I raged hard many times before being able to pistol start it.

I can kinda relate, I used to listen to a lot of Alice In Chains back when I was a sad teenager cutting himself every day. I still enjoy some Alice In Chains, but without the spiral of "everything is shit and I can never find joy in life", and without the cutting.
I ended up in a place where I can listen to those songs and they resonate with me still for their sadness and misery, but also in that I've put a lot of that sorrow behind me, I'm not in that kind of place anymore, and that brings me a cathartic feeling.

I ended up channeling a lot of that into mapping and modding Doom.

It just never ends, man. I started drinking heavily when I was 14 and I've kept it up for 20 years thereafter. It just never ends. Every time I think, "I'm having a good day without booze", then that nagging little thought comes out of nowhere and says, "...but you'd be having a better day if you were drunk right now", and I just end up relapsing. I don't know what to do anymore. Nothing feels good or real without the sauce or something else.

I wasn't much of a sad teenager, things were good then, and I never cut myself, but this kind of music speaks to my fucking soul man. If anything, despite how depressive the lyrics often are, I find it a source of strength. Listening to good tunes was only ever an accompaniment to the drinking, not the cause of it.

It takes years for your brain to bounce back after substance abuse. Alcohol fucked me up for a good 20 years. I'm only a few years sober, but I'm starting to enjoy things again. It's all up to you. You have to want it bad enough to fight through the shitty days, which are most days when you first get sober. You will feel depressed, anxious, bored, zombified, etc... that's part of the process of your brain having to detox and figure out that it needs to make its own dopamine/serotonin without stimulants. Lots of things help the process. Creatine, coq10, micro dosing mushrooms(don't do this until you can handle not taking too much to get fucked up or it won't work). It's a discipline you have to work at and it's extremely hard. You WILL NOT experience things the same way afterwards and you will always have days where you want to relapse. It's one of the hardest things to do once you become an addict(yes, alcoholics are addicts). You can do it, though.

All the other historically notable mods are significant to the history of Doom and its modding. The first TC, the first major DeHackEd mod, the first megawad, the first community project, the first projects that set the bars, etc. etc., or stuff like UAC Labs which is just historically notable in general. It's not just stuff that people played a lot of or was really good, they're milestones that changed the game.

A more historically notable multiplayer conversion mod would be something like Ghouls vs Humans, especially since Mike's success with it is why he decided the Mega Man mod he wanted to make should be multiplayer deathmatch.

Pic related, the Triskele on the left is a typical traditional Irish motif, it's part of their old history and remains used as before, while on the right, you have the 'Triple Seven' (perhaps one could call it an 'Unlucky Seven'), which is a kind of motif used by a few SS Divisions, and then later by some Neo Nazi groups, though far less commonly than the typical Hakenkreutz or Nazi Totenkopf.

The symbol/emblem was more to be eyecatching than anything else, doesn't need to be used.
