Fighting games have resisted corporate influence and "esports" better than any other genre of competitive games. I think it may be because the offline component never went away. Even when games went online, everybody still wanted to play in-person which kept the sense of community strong. This also leads to huge cross-pollination of which games people play leading to a lot of history/culture obtained through osmosis and a constant passing of the torch for older/obscure games. All fighting games from all eras are still relevant and played to this day, not just whatever new game the major companies are pushing to be played.
Other genres (FPS, RTS, MOBA) started offline out of necessity, then moved solely to online. Fighting games started the same way but since the optimal way to was always offline, people either start offline and stay offline OR start their journey online and eventually move to offline play when they are ready. And since this kind of community is the last of its kind it becomes its own source of appeal for new players.
I hope these games manage to live as long as Chess has.

>BDO players decided that guides for BDO should now be on discord.
God I hate this so much, what could've been a lot of information anyone could search on clearnet in the past is instead obfuscated behind another service and tediously behind over two dozen servers, having to jump through all their role selection hoops and unique layouts to get the information it is you're after. And even then a good chunk of relevant guides are hosted on gdocs.

>All the chaos tracks have a electric guitar warbling as a supporting sound to set it aside musically from the other factions themes.
>Chaos Space Marine theme is literally just a guitars first metal song

I'm interested in seeing what people here as a whole think about slaughter in this thread. Where do (You) sit?
>Love it a lot, mostly plays slaughter wads
>Enjoy it and will sometimes play full on slaughter wads
>It's ok sometimes, but not really full on slaughter wads
>Don't care much for it at all, will often avoid it
>Hate it a lot, wish it never existed
