>>529624143 (OP)I haven't played much civilization and I want to give it a try. Is it better to start with civ 6 or civ 7? I'm on ps5.
I had civ 6 from a sale on switch but it wasn't multiplier and laggy so I couldn't get into much.

If it was up to me, I would recommend you Civ V and IV on PC, because both are great.
But I'd imagine you would have a steep learning curve there, at least compared to the more casualized later civs.

>free traders
>build every single planet as tall as possible
>spread through seeding on other worlds
>have thereby minimal distance to other empires and lower branch office costs

I came up with this after noticing how annoying it is to spawn next to 2 machine intelligences and another megacorp. Also, i figured it is one of the better uses for the fruitful partnership origin

In Stellaris, is it possible to play a xenophile driven assimilator that attracts migrants to assimilate them one by one?
Would that be a valid playstyle or do assimilators like exterminators always have to be on the offensive?
>>529727556driven assimilators are not genocidal but they can't have organic pops migrate to their empire
I actually liked AoE3's card system
Okay, most info on how to play genocidal nanite empires is outdated or conflicting, so my biggest question is:
Which origin? many people say arc furnace, but the fact is that nanites feed off either created system deposits (which arent affected by minerals or by mining drones on planets), so the next best bet is population size, for which voidforged would be best, no? Or should I instead go for grabbing as many starsystems as possible and using the starbase option of creating nanite deposits on rocky planets?
>>529748521Oh and I forgot: Subterran machines. Would help greatly thanks to uncapped mining districts, right?
>>529748521Why not resource consolidation? starting on a machine world gives you a huge early boost, then you can just conquer systems and planets using that early edge to harvest nanites once you get your ascenscion. I mean if you're playing genocidal you'll be conquering a lot anyway.
Subterran machines also comes with a hefty pop assembly penalty.
Stellaris achievements question, did they change it so they're not locked behind ironman? What limits are there for earning them now?
>>529763712yes, checksum IIRC
>>529760554Thats is true, early game bonus and all, but voidforged allows me to have 100% habitability wherever I want AND habitat districts get me 50% extra jobs, so producing nanites via jobs is easier that way.
>>529763794Seems Paradox is really loosening their restrictions on achievements lately. Pretty sure only HOI needs ironman now, and half their catalogue even allows mods too. Wonder what changed in their mindset.
>>529738147Obvious troll.
>try hyperlubrication basin civic as machine intelligence
>literally doubles my monthly assembly from 4 pops per months to 8 after I develop the planet a bit
So do we have any idea if this civic is bugged or is it just really good now?

It's not resettlement, I didnt do that. It's not bombardment. One day I have 1.7k menial drones working generators and mines, the next day there' like 50. >>530152603>I'm afraid I'm not quite sure what the difference between late medieval and high medieval is. You mean like some kind of fantasy medieval, or just middle medieval? You can separate medieval period (roughly from 500 AD to 1500 AD) into two different parts, Bannerlord takes inspiration more from 500 AD to 800 AD (early meddle ages) and from 800 AD to 1200 AD (high middle ages), while Warband is more from 1200 to 1500 (but with exceptions desu, like Nords being somewhat closer to early medieval norse/vikings).
This is all roughly speaking, of course, but you won't see late medieval plate armor of Warband in Bannerlord.

So with the new 4.0 planetary logistics, I get a trade cost if my planet has negative output of materials, right? So I have to produce EVERYTHING on site? >>530191779every resource, and so far I've found it's better to dedicate one or two planets to trade

BTW; that system Hithram at the bottom there that's a hole in my empire? I just deleted its starbase (outpost). The consumption by starbases went down by 1 in total.
>>530242818that much upkeep just from starbases is kind of extreme. did you conquer an empire that had eternal vigilance? often their defense platforms don't get destroyed when you take over the system

>>530244932It seems bound to the number of nanites produced, btw. Because systems with like 200 nanite deposits (because of the finisher effect increasing the output every 5 years) also have 200 energy upkeep, but those with just 11 nanite deposits only have 11 upkeep on their nanite harvester.

It worked understandably differently compared to earlier games (2D instead of 3D space, but with topography mattering).
Biggest upgrade it had over older homeworld games, was the power management on mothership.
You could increase AA power, anti-vehicle power, speed, defense and probably some other shit I forger about. All of this from single power bar that you would upgrade over the campaign.
Story was a complete retcon of original games history, instead of peaceful expidition to Khar Toba, you are instead fighting against the super powered Kiith Gaalsien, who in original were a footnote, mentioned as a former powerhouse who lost a major religious war against other Kiith, chief among them Nabaal.
So instead, you now fight against sand people with hover tanks, while you have regular wheels and tank threads.

Is this even the right general for Silent Storm?
Cause I'm utterly fucking confused as to why the characters I've been, and with the highest levels of the recruits, have the LOWEST main stat out of everyone in their class. Like my Elf here has 42 in Hide while every other scout has it in the 100s. I noticed the same with Doug having 40-ish Engineering while the other guys had 80 minimum despite being 2 levels behind.
>stellaris is on 4.0 version
>with like 500$ worth of DLC's
>still no easy coherent menu to upgrade my starbases, planets and habs all in one place
>still no way to exclude certain shipyards when reinforcing fleets and building new ones so you constantly have newly built ships travel from the other end of the empire because you clicked on reinforcement button
>countless other qol features not present

>>530639934I cant, it seems to be removed from Loverslab...
Shame.
Does X4 Frontier go in here? I'm considering buying Timelines, any opinions? I know people are meh on the challenges but I kinda just want all sectors and all ships available because I'm autistic as hell.
>>530657328Are you telling me these games don't have their own general? That's odd.
Also, wouldn't that be more /indie/? We are talking about these games where you buy stuff, ship them off planets, use time compression to fly to your destination, and deliver them at a loss because you're following a NPC trader that filled the demand so much that buying price fell from $400 to $50 while you bought it at $100?
>>530663630>Are you telling me these games don't have their own general?Nope. I think it's to niche and German eurojank autism core to sustain a decent playerbase here.
>Also, wouldn't that be more /indie/?Maybe /indie/ would fit more, but I think both fit pretty well, and this one probably had a better chance of someone having played it.
X4 I think is kind of a 4X? Like sure you usually start as a single guy in a single small ship, but it also hit's all the 4Xes:
>eXploreYou have a ton of sectors to explore, that you need to scout out either yourself or with scout ships, and you need to place either ships or satelites in the area to retain up to date information
>eXpand:Pretty core for x4: You start with very little, hire some pilots to fly for you, some miners, start building a station, grow into a whole ass faction with your own ship wharfs, taking over more and more of the map
>eXploitYou have your fleet mine and trade in the areas you have explored
>eXterminateYou certainly can do a lot of space-genocide if you're so inclined.
>games where you buy stuff, ship them off planets, use time compression to fly to your destination, and deliver them at a loss because you're following a NPC trader that filled the demand so much that buying price fell from $400 to $50 while you bought it at $100?Yup, that's X4 alright. Buy stuff, time compress, sell stuff. Economy sim is kinda the biggest part of X4.
That's why I always considered it an 4X type game. Nothing like seeing that one faction is constantly short on some component to build space ships, building a factory for those parts right next to them so they buy them.
>>530666993I'm not sure it counts as a 4X. Like, there's no strategy, it's closer to an exploration/economysim/maybe even RPG.
>>530656431Maybe it's on nexus or something? What was the name of it, do you remember it?

I like 4 but 4 feels like the new paradox publishing angle has gotten to the brains of the dev studio.
>game on release, basic, decent, nothing crazy other than designing fantasy civs, made a few civ combinations and dropped it for months to see how it'd develop>season announced DLCs with roughly 3-4 content packs and a tiny exclusive reward for buying in bulk>each dlc release comes with a free update improving vanilla cultures and content. The most OP culture is an updated vanilla one, some other cultures are still super basic and in need of updates >season 1, which included dragon rulers, gun culture, grug culture, and tentacle rape, was a high enough success they announced a season 2>season 2 nearly finished, which was weeaboo towns, giant kings, and soon Archons, they're already spitballing ideas for a third with enthusiasm, like vampiresThey've been succeeding revenue wise, series is more popular than ever now, no signs of dev support dropping for a long while, but yeah, it's been pretty Paradox'd

Some, like the asian DLC shit, seem made up on the spot rather than planned, and would have seriously stuck out if included at base game launch. Others like the Giant Kings DLC had some reactionary decision making and design choices, with some events and encounters with background lore to be inserted into maps at players leisure since the devs realized not many people tried the story map campaigns and just immediately launched with custom map parameters. I can absolutely believe certain bits here and there were set aside for DLC, lizardmen forms/draconian TF were inserted into the very first DLC, and scalies ended up being the third most popular racial pick for the 2yr anniversary

What could have been that never was.
>>530988703Gameplay was okay (felt unpolished when compared to original, 2, deserts of kharak and remakes).
Story was retarded though.
>>530989072How could you not enjoy the inflation fetish scene
>>530989072I pity it because it will be killed for more entries like with DoW3.
I realize I stopped playing Anno because of decision paralysis. I keep staring at everything, maybe tweaking one or two things but not really doing anything.
How the fuck do people handle it?
>>530994617By making peace with the fact that not every decision will be optimal.
>>530995136I haven't really played since last month, so it will be fun remembering what the fuck I was doing.
>>530995136This but go one step further and make bad decisions on purpose.

Muahaha time for some mind games.
How the fuck am i supposed to force these fags to capitulate?
Its their only planet, they just achieved ftl and i couldnt let them just be because it was a system that links huge chunk of my empire to the rest.
I kill their ships, i invade and occupy them and these faggots still have can dictate term?

Did they remove the ability to properly queue strategic spells in age of wonders 4 or what the fuck? The UI is different from what it used to be. It only adds spells to the front of the queue and if you try and queue them backwards to get around it, you are forced to use your current turns mana on the last spell you want to come out

Is there any point to using militarized economy? I feel like you lose out on so many consumer goods for so little extra alloys that it really becomes an issue having enough consumer goods for your pops and building up research and unity buildings

I really like how Rise of Legend makes the infantry relevant but also irrelevant because their offensive power is comparable to guardsmen in Warhammer 40000. Their only interest in the late game is capturing building and look good.

Just in case you guys didn't know, steam got some free games for us!

>>531246139that middle one looks so generic I don't even want it for free
>>531246449Can only speak for Deadlock, it's ok.
You got turn based strategic turns, during which you move your fleets and factory starbase around colony sectors, you also build ships during these turns.
You have limited amount of engagements you can do per turn, so picking your fights and what colony to help or leave to their own luck is important.
In combat, you have this sorta quazi-turn based gameplay.
You give orders to your ships at end of each turn then while turn changes game unfreezes and your ships and enemy ships move around fluidly in space, until the time runs out and the current turn ends.
After battles you can view combat footage as a single fluid video, which while not a necessary feature is still very neat.
>>531247375>>In combat, you have this sorta quazi-turn based gameplay.>You give orders to your ships at end of each turn then while turn changes game unfreezes and your ships and enemy ships move around fluidly in space, until the time runs out and the current turn ends.Ha, kinda like Frozen Synapse or The Last Federation, got it.

Do you guys know how fucking infuriating it is to just plan out execute a SF infiltration behind enemy lines, destroy multiple SAM batteries and supply depots, then make one big paradrop(notpicrel), and every fucking time see that the enemy team reaction is to just spam T-15s and 2s38s like it's a fucking war thunder match?
I don't know how I still had fun that game whilst completely running up against a incredibly shitty player that only knows one strategy in the game.

>wonder why he's not expanding
>turn out my buddys stuck in a deadlock against a devouring swarm

>make us a comfy research federation
>some shithole pre-FTL rapidly advances to a full empire through some retarded event chain where I can do nothing but watch until it steals my system that's on an important chokepoint
