I was REALLY let down by After Hours. The first part of the film looked promising, uncannily dreamlike but it had some cohesive motifs to create a story out of the surreal flow of events (like 3 Women did, one of the best dreamlike movies), it could have gone the way of a dream movie or even a horror movie and been great. But then Scorsese took the main character out of that storyline, threw him into a bunch of others, then turned the rest of the movie into an incoherent reduction to absurdity because he’s such an oh-so-highbrow auteur, with no resolution to tie it together. His worst film in my opinion
