Modern """D&D""" would be infinitely better if it doubled down on being a fantasy superhero game about killing monsters and dropped all the actual dungeon crawling rules that have been grandfathered in. If I want to play a dungeon crawler, Dungeon Crawl Classics or Shadowdark are better at doing that.
