Spamming inward drift boosts or not doing tricks in general is not faster, the webm literally proves that in the second case. Even my failed second trick jump keeps me relatively close to my former ghost speed.
By tricking, you get the possibility to spam more boosts and it propels you a long distance forward if you time it right. You can fly over good portions of the vine track when you know where to jump. Tricking literally helps you correct when you play like shit or when you get pushed around by the cpus
