I won't knock you for getting one. Hell, I love meme guns. But you're better off getting a hinged barrel or folding stock 12ga shotgun at that point. I feel like anything you need a gun for in the woods would be better served by a shotgun; just carry birdshot, buckshot, and slugs with you depending on your situation. Or carry a regular .22 strapped to the outside of your pack for easy access if you're hunting small game/tin cans. The only times I see the ruger backpacker being suitable is if you're keeping it in a survival bag or doing a day trip to plink in the woods and don't want passing hikers getting nervous and calling the cops. It doesn't seem reliable either; 2 of the first 3 videos I watched about it showed it misfiring multiple times.
