I mean I'm a digital only chad so I give zero fucks about the game card thing. Plus it always seems bizarre to me when PC guys (who obviously only play/buy digital PC games) are obsessed with physical media. Based Furukawa is obviously copying the Steam playbook and so the digital Switch library is not going away for several decades at least. Every Switch console going forward will have full backwards compatibility and the libraries will be up until you die. Everyone thought I was nuts when I bought over 60 Switch 1 games digitally, now I am the one laughing because all those games carry over and are either upgraded or just plain run better and I can carry them all around easily.
Everything is going to be digital. Physical media will die, and this is a good thing. As someone who emulates games, you should know better than most that all video games are just data, and data can always be transferred and stored however. Physical media is dying because it's slow, it deteriorates and it doesn't have the same tactility as say, reading a book. Also the logistics of it are just enormously expensive.
No other game developer has the same degree of optimization as Nintendo. Literally zero. Tears of the Kingdom Sw2 edition is somehow 21GB, it honestly makes no sense. Not to mention in this day and age every game gets day 1 patches and dlc and updates, why cling so much to a physical representation of the base version of the game? We are now in the era where 100GB plus games are commonplace, it is simply not going to be feasible to have everything story on a 32GB or 64GB cart anymore. Nintendo tried to give the most reasonable solution, and physicucks still bitched out.
If I was Furukawa, I wouldn't have even given the Switch 2 a cartridge slot. I truly hope Switch 3 doesn't have one. Physicucks are like protestors who block the road on the highway. Fuck them. Let them be lost as customers, there's a new kid who wants Mario Kart born every fucking day.
