But our entire evolution has been shaped by the fact we're social animals, both on the inside and outside. We're not even just social animals, we're arguably THE most social animal. For example, even other great apes don't have a white sclera on their eyes, something we do because it communicates so much non-verbally. And who struggles with non-verbal communication? Autists notoriously. Human language is also what separates us the most from all other animals on earth, and what people typically have developmental delays and difficulties with it? Autists again. There's also things like "theory of mind" (the ability to understand people think differently than you). It's something some scientists argue is what made us so intelligent compared to the other great apes and the reason we developed such complex communication. Struggling with it, that is a literal diagnostic criteria for autism. I have a hard time seeing any kind of silver linings with autism, having your brain work against you to this degree just seems way too depressing.
