Exactly, you upgrade all your hardware, you're forced to buy a license for the software as well. Said license only runs for a few years and paid upgrades are mandatory. These tech firms like Honeywell, Siemens force you into these contracts so big corps are VERY careful when to upgrade their systems to avoid choke-holds like these. The only reason we upgraded our original 70's tech is because spare parts were running out. Why waste millions on an upgrade when your old tech works just fine? I mean we still use telephones with dial plates for fucks sake and we're the biggest chem corp in the WORLD.
