They're fantastically beautiful films but they have a kindergarten tier story.

What's annoying is that Cameron at one point had the movie rights to Kim Stanley Robinson's "Mars" trilogy, for which that beautiful CGI tech would have been perfect but he never pulled the trigger.

I'm guessing the story was just over his head, he could see the potential for a cool visual flick but couldn't translate the story to film.
