The casting does really look weird in retrospect. Pedro has an army of people on Filmtwitter and left social media but that doesn't seem to translate much to box office success, and some people definitely are turned off by him. The other two guys are literal who, but the most bewildering thing is Vanessa Kirby as your colead.

Does she have any fanbase at all? Has she carried anything ever before? I don't think so, and she's not attractive enough to move the needle on people otherwise unsure of going.

I'm convinced that any other potential white woman blue eyed lead, Jennifer Lawrence, Sydney Sweeney (she'd need the character aged down a little but not a big deal), Emma Stone, Margot Robbie, even Dakota Johnson despite being totally unsuited for comic book movies--they all would have helped this movie do better. It was mid. Sue was the soul of the movie, and her scenes were pretty good. Unironically the strong female they've been trying to come up with the whole time and it was relatively successful.
