Oblivion's fairly bland and generic fantasy style is one of it's strong points but also holds it back.
As a kid, I wanted to play something that kinda felt like Lord of the Rings and it completely delivered those feelings. Morrowind is like reading the book Dune while tripping on acid, absolutely wild but not exactly user friendly or accessible.
Skyrim felt like watching a TV series about vikings, I could barely do more than walk around the map a couple times and the stormcloak/imperial war a single time. Never finished the main story with the dragons, might not ever care enough to.
