I've been in the emergency department within the last few months. Like I said in another post, the waiting room was pretty mixed for age and ethnicity, but within the department itself, practically every patient on a bed that I saw was elderly. Tons of them.
Anyway it's no secret that the ageing population is a problem. Look at pic related. Fewer young adults than in the past, who are the ones contributing taxes to pay for the NHS. Then there's many elderly people living longer, who require NHS care.
