Japan fumbled a lot. There are a truckload of failed jap gachas which were hilariously bad, and downright predatory with a LOT LOT LOT worse rates than the popular ones.
Unfortunately japan kind of lost its way and all they do now is commiefornian brainrot, their video games are now just like western ones. It added to the pack that Final fantasy failed extra hard both mmo and main game wise.
As for gooks and chinks they were opportunitistic. You can't blame someone for striking the iron while its hot. BA and genshin became the go-to weaboo game, mostly because the extremely aggressive marketing, but now this game is getting traction. Japan is not "back", not by a long shot, but uma musume's popularity came as a welcomed surprise.
Nikke tried becoming the next big weaboo game, especially with the stellar blade boost, but since the anni Nikke is kind of mediocre. They fucked up really damn hard, and currently it has one of the most busywork boring ass phase.
