No one quite knows what made the elves go south, into the wild and untamed occident. The image of an elven knight, her cape billowing in the breeze as she beholds her future home, remains powerful imagery even so many thousands of years later. As is the great steppe were mammoth roamed, the clear fresh waters of the inland sea and its endless islands, and the dark woods of now extinct trees. All gone.
While to the elves it is nostalgic, to the men they conquered it is a reminder of how long they suffered under these women.
