Tried playing Uncharted with my girlfriend and any time the game would slow down and make her do a puzzle or a setpiece she'd go "oh my god this never ends when do we go back to shooting people?"
I think it's cause they just see it as a toy where nothing but the gameplay matters, any piece of worldbuilding or mood-setting completely passes them by since it's not really art, it's just a toy - and any bit that isn't "toy-like" is a waste of time.
